Dear Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,
Thank you.
The United States of America honors you on this day. We're not there yet, but your dream is coming true. When I was in third grade, a little black girl befriended me, a little white girl. Today, some of my closest friends are black. I have even kissed a black man in public and received no scorn. I love each and every one of them as much as, if not more than, my white friends, and no one looks down on our friendships. I can therefore say that, even though I am white, my life is much different because of your influence in this country. I thank Jesus Christ for you, for putting you in this world and using you for his glory. I cannot wait to meet you someday, on the other side of the pearly gates. I love you, and thank you.
