Paragraph form would take too long to update you all on my time so far in Juneau, so here is the bullet-point form of what I have done so far:
Tuesday, May 28th
Mom dropped me off at the airport.
Ran through the Chicago airport to make my connecting flight.
Wandered around in the Seattle airport aimlessly for three hours.
Met my first batch of Project people and rode with them the rest of the way to Juneau.
Met a bunch more people upon getting picked up in Juneau.
Went to the Breeze-In to buy my first round of groceries.
Wednesday, May 29th
Orientation meeting with the whole group all morning and into the afternoon.
Job hunting downtown.
Real grocery shopping.
First rain.
Kidnapped by the women leaders for Juneau Women's Summer Project initiation in the middle of the night.
Thursday, May 30th
Relaxing and filling out applications while getting to know the other women.
Hiked out to our campsite surrounded by ocean, snowy mountains, and forest.
Attempted to climb a small cliff with no equipment.
Watched the sunset from a high perch with Jordan, Anna, and Elizabeth.
Saw whales surfacing to breathe.
Talked to Rachel and Olivia by the campfire in the dark and rain.
Friday, May 31st
Made dinner for breakfast over the wet campfire.
Saw a whale breach not too far from shore.
Cleaned up around the cabin and hiked back to the cars in the drizzle.
Showered, cleaned up, and warmed up.
Had dinner at Olivia, Rachel, and Jenny's (our leaders).
Shared our abbreviated stories with all the other women for several hours, crying together and encouraging one another.
Went on a midnight run to the Breeze-In for ice cream and doughnuts.
Saturday, June 1st
Had breakfast at our leaders' place again and crafted the outside of our journals.
Job hunted some more, trampling around in rainy downtown with Lauren.
Made hotdog and broccoli spaghetti for myself for dinner. (observe: spaghetti dogs)
Hung out in the lodge all night socializing with Project people and talking about life with Lauren.
Sunday, June 2nd
Church at Calvary Fellowship (much like Veritas, a reference for you Cru people from school).
Lunch at McDonald's.
Laundry.
....The rest is still unwritten, but we're going to have a meeting on evangelism soon, then playing ultimate frisbee tonight which I am pretty excited about, since I have a lot of friends that play but have never played myself. We open it up for the community to play and use it as an evangelism tool. Tomorrow, people start their jobs, but I haven't found one yet, so I'll continue to look and turn in applications until I find one. Prayers for that would be appreciated, but I'm not worried about it yet.
Thank you for the prayers and financial support, everyone!! I wouldn't be here without your help. God is really making himself known here!
God bless.
